The crime of child pornography Child pornography is the visual depiction of a minor in sexually explicit conduct. There is some general public confusion surrounding the term “child pornography” — for example, some people believe that child pornography can be accidentally found while browsing the internet, or that the “children” depicted are actually older and simply appear younger. Using the term “child pornography” can also minimize the horrors of children being exploited for profit in this way.
